In vino veritas

Livermore Valley wine country.

Some days the light doesn’t cooperate; some days it does. The day I did this shoot in the wine country near Livermore – right off the former Lincoln Highway – the light was nothing short of spectacular.   The weather fall/winter 2016-2017 has been very wet in northern California. It has been much needed rain (and snow in the mountains). It rained off and on the day I did this shoot, and between storms the light was amazing.

Wente is managed by the fourth generation of the family and goes back to 1883; Concannon also started out in the same year.

The first two structures in this set are both at the Concannon vineyards; the Queen Anne Gordon House (1895) was moved there from central Livermore.

The next structure in this set is that of the Las Positas winery, one of the newer wineries in the valley.

The buildings in the penultimate photo in this set are the 1891 Main House (partially shown) and 1885 Cottage (some cottage!) at the Ravenswood Historical Site (1891), one of the larger early vineyards in the Livermore Valley, and now part of a park operated by the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District.
