From Livermore we drive first over the Altamont Pass on the 1913 route.
In the first several pictures that is the historic Summit Garage which predates the Lincoln. I saw someone inside working on a car and had a good chat with him. Compare the first four (taken in Nov. 2016 after the start of the rains) to the earlier pictures taken at the same site (in mid-summer 2016). What a stark contrast.
The photos which follow are of the Altamont Pass windmills and the now closed Altamont Speedway – the site of the infamous 1969 Rolling Stones concert.
In one of the pictures that is the California Aqueduct, a key part of the California State Water Project.
