The Lincoln exits Oakland through an old neighborhood called the Clinton district heading towards East Oakland.
Originally, one would have left on Foothill all the way out, but Foothill is one-way now (in the direction of downtown Oakland) so the exit these days is along E 15th St. until 14th Ave.
The fellow in the pictures below is the owner of Jackson’s Liquors on E. 12th. Great guy. He saw me taking pictures of his sign and came out to talk. We had a good chat. Great sign, too. It is an older neighborhood – long African-American – now experiencing dramatic demographic changes. The old garages all seem to be Asian owned now.
